Dr Kapoor says, “Hair fall is a common, though a worrying problem for most of us. So to alleviate your worries, there is a simple hair mask comprising the two most hair-friendly ingredients; egg and coconut oil.”
Here’s how eggs and coconut oil can benefit your hair:
No one can deny the advantages of coconut oil for hair and scalp. It not only nourishes your hair but also shields it from environmental damage, chemicals and hair styling products. Dr Kapoor says, “Due to its low molecular weight, coconut oil aids in penetrating the hair shaft and replenishing the moisture content of the hair strands, in addition to aiding in the reduction of protein loss.” Apart from this, being extremely rich in fatty acids, coconut oil is good at reducing hair breakage, hair fall, and controlling dandruff.
On the other hand, eggs are one of the richest sources of biotin and protein, which are needed as the building blocks of hair. They nourish the hair, condition it, and promote hair development. Dr Kapoor says, “Selenium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, and other vitamins and minerals are abundant in this superfood, which makes it a perfect addition to your hair care routine.” The lecithin in egg yolks is the key to good hair growth.
When the two ingredients are combined to prepare a hair mask, they add strength and shine to the hair strands and prevent hair fall.
Here’s what you need to make the egg and coconut oil hair mask:
- 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil
- 1 whisked egg
- 1 tablespoon of honey (optional)
Here’s how to make and use this hair mask to reduce hair fall:
Step 1: In a clean bowl, add the egg and coconut oil.
Step 2: Mix these ingredients well to make a smooth paste. Your hair mask is ready!
Step 3: Wet your hair a bit and then apply this hair mask to your scalp and strands.
Step 4: Cover hair with a shower cap and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
Step 5: Rinse your hair with cold water. Follow it up with shampoo and condition as usual.
Tip: If you want to skip the conditioner, then definitely add 1 teaspoon of honey to your hair mask with egg and coconut oil.
