Here’s how to cook sweet potatoes:
Make sure you buy sweet potatoes that are hard. They should not be soft or soggy from anywhere. Rinse them well as they grow under mud and will have a lot of dirt.
Once you have rinsed the sweet potatoes you need to put them in a heavy bottomed pan or a kadai. Don’t peel them or chop them, just heat them as it is or there is a chance you will burn the sweet potatoes.
Put the sweet potatoes on medium heat and cover with a lid and cook until they turn soft. Cook for 15 minutes and then turn them over and cover the lid again. Keep doing this until sweet potatoes are cooked and you are able to put a knife through its center. This way you will know if the sweet potatoes have turned soft or not.
Once sweet potatoes are cooked, you can peel off the skin and eat them just like that or make its chaat or any other recipe you want.
This is not the only way to cook sweet potatoes. You can also cook them in a pressure cooker in the same way or you can bake them in the oven. To cook them in the oven just cover them with a foil and bake them for 30 minutes at 350 degree celcius or until the skin turns crisp and the insides become soft.
