Health Shots got in touch with Dr. Blossom Kochhar, Chairperson Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies to know more about the different types of hair oils that can promote beautiful hair this winter.

Olive oil

Olive oil for hair care is a great option for winter as its active ingredients prevent strands from getting rough, frizzy and damaged. Kochhar shared that the oil also adds nourishment to hair and scalp. You can make a quick olive oil hair mask by mixing it with egg yolk and honey. The expert said that this mask will help to treat frizz, split ends and dull hair strands. All you need to do is keep it on your hair for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse it off.

Bhringraj oil

Nowadays, many natural hair care brands have Bhringraj as their key ingredient. Kochhar also vouches for it as this oil has the best reputation for all that it can do for your hair. It helps to treat dandruff and dry scalp, reduce hair fall, increase blood circulation while also adding sheen, promoting hair growth and preventing premature greying. You can just warm it up, apply it on your scalp and roots and keep it on for half an hour before rinsing it off.

Almond oil

Love to eat almonds in the morning? Try almond oil as well as it is very nourishing for extremely dry and damaged hair. It is rich in Vitamin E, magnesium and Omega 3 fatty acids that help to nourish and strengthen the hair. Kochhar shared that it also improves hair texture and adds lustre to your tresses. Just half teaspoon of almond oil in your palm is needed then you can rub the palms lightly together. This way the oil gets smeared on both palms and then start at the ends and run your fingers through your hair.

Sesame oil

It is a great choice of hair oil if you have dry and lifeless hair. Kochhar said that this oil contains useful agents like Omega 3, 6 and 9, and adds a bounce and creates a voluminous texture. You can mix it with your favourite coconut oil, and massage your scalp with it to get rid of dryness.

If you still want to rely on coconut oil then use it with curry leaves to restore health to your hair. Kochhar suggested to add coconut oil to fresh curry leaves and boil them till a black residue is formed. Let it cool and then add the black residue to the scalp. Keep it on your hair for an hour and then wash it off then see great results within a few weeks!
